Texas has a long and colorful history, and the highlights are presented in this well researched work from Gary Vliet. From Cabeza de Vaca’s shipwreck in 1528 through the Texas Revolution to the present day—almost 500 years of recorded history—a myriad of significant events in Texas history are recounted in an easily accessed style. Gary Vliet, Ph.D., is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin. He grew up in Alberta, Canada, and then studied and worked in California before joining the Mechanical Engineering faculty at the University of Texas at Austin (UT), where he taught for 35 years.
